Groups and individuals honored with Oklahoma Governor's Arts Awards

The Oklahoma Arts Council honored 13 individuals and five organizations Tuesday with the Governor's Arts Award during a ceremony on the state Capitol Rotunda.

The honorees were announced in front of a crowd of several hundred people. Singer-songwriter K.C. Clifford performed before the honors were given.

The awards recipients are chosen from a selection committee's nominations. Here are the winners and their awards for the 36th annual recognition:

Howard and Billie Barnett, Tulsa, and Peggy Wisdom, Alva, received the Governor's Award that recognizes longtime leadership and significant contributions to the arts.

Gary Clinton, Norman, received the Business in the Arts Award, given to individuals, businesses and corporations that exhibit outstanding support of the arts in Oklahoma.

KGOU Radio, Norman, and OklaVision, Oklahoma City, were honored with the Media in the Arts Award, given to an individual member of the media or media outlet that demonstrates commitment to the arts in Oklahoma documented through public awareness, support, fairness, initiative, creativity and professionalism in reporting.
