According to those at practice, Walker was injured when a teammate's hand caught him in the throat while his head was tilted back. He struggled to breathe, witnesses said, and OU's medical staff called for an ambulance as a precaution. Walker recovered quickly and was released from the hospital after what one teammate called "a scary moment."
It was not immediately known whether Walker would be able to play in Saturday's game against Iowa State. Walker, a native of Garland, Texas, has been in a rotation this season with Stacy McGee and Jamarkus McFarland. Walker has started six games this season and played in nine of the Sooners' 10 games. He missed one, the Texas Tech loss, due to a hand injury. The 6-foot-2, 308-pound Walker has 14 tackles, including three for a loss (one sack).
