Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones takes responsibility for loss to Oklahoma State

Last season Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones threw three interceptions in Bedlam but had one of the best fourth quarters in school history to rally the Sooners to a win, another Big 12 title and another BCS bowl berth.

This time there wasn't an opportunity for Jones to gain fourth quarter redemption. Jones' four turnovers played a pivotal role in the Sooners' 44-10 loss Saturday night at Boone Pickens Stadium.

“You can't put it on anyone but me tonight,” Jones said. “I singlehandedly lost this game for us. That's just the way it is. Coach put the ball in my hands to win the game. And I lost it for us.”

Jones threw two interceptions. He also had two fumbles.

One fumble was returned for a 5-yard touchdown by OSU defensive end Richetti Jones early in the second half that allowed the Cowboys to seize control.

The first fumble was scooped up by Jamie Blatnick, who rambled 59 yards to set up a 1-yard touchdown run, the pivotal play that turned the game around late in the first half.

It was listed as a fumble. But on the play, the ball slipped out of Jones' hand while he was attempting to throw a pass.

“That's never happened (to me) before,” Jones said. “I was just trying to get it out of my hand really quick. On a cold night sometimes the ball is kind of slick.”

Jones completed 27 of 50 passes for 250 yards but no touchdowns.

It's the third straight week Jones hasn't completed a touchdown pass. Jones hasn't thrown a TD pass since Ryan Broyles suffered a season-ending knee injury against Texas A&M.

“I know Landry had some throws he would like to take back,” said OU co-offensive coordinator Jay Norvell. “But we didn't help him much. We dropped some passes early that could have given us some momentum, some third down conversions on balls we could have clearly made.
