Herman Cain, the Republican who suspended his presidential campaign during the weekend, still is coming Monday to Oklahoma City, the state's GOP chairman said Sunday.
“He will still be there,” state Republican Party Chairman Matt Pinnell said.
Cain is scheduled to be at a 6:30 p.m. rally supporting the Oklahoma Republican Party at the Oklahoma City Marriott, 3233 Northwest Expressway. He is attending a private fundraiser earlier in the day.
Cain announced Saturday he was suspending his bid to win the Republican Party's nomination after accusations of sexual misconduct derailed his campaign. He told supporters that the sexual accusations were false and unproved. Cain said he would endorse another candidate.
Pinnell said more than 300 people have said they would attend the Oklahoma City rally.
“We're still going to have a pretty big crowd,” he said. “We'll see how many people show up now that he's suspended his campaign.”
Cost is $20.12 per person. All money raised will be used by the state Republican Party. Tickets are available; call state GOP headquarters at 528-3501 for information.
The state Republican Party has invited all GOP presidential candidates to the state. GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney appeared in October in Oklahoma City.
