On OSU-Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl:
I don't think there will be a letdown. Not making the national championship game was a disappointment, sure, but these players and coaches still realize that they've done something historic at OSU. To put together the best regular season in school history and then have a letdown in the bowl game would be a bit of a waste, don't you think? When I was at the team's watch party last week, the disappointment and talk of Alabama quickly switched to excitement about playing Stanford in the Fiesta. ... I'm excited for a heck of a ballgame — I think it's the best matchup of the entire bowl season, other than the national title game. Two of the best quarterbacks in the nation, two different yet effective offenses, and a little bit of a strength vs. speed battle.
On OSU's success changing future recruiting:
Success will absolutely make it easier to get good recruits — It's safe to say that the vast majority want to play for a winning program. The thing is, when you're dealing with 17- and 18-year old kids, they're going to change their mind sometimes. Especially some of the higher-level prospects, who will continue to be pursued by big schools even after they commit. That's part of the recruiting game.
