Discover Oklahoma: Historic log cabins offer insights into pioneer living

It was back in 1829 that Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee alphabet, built a one-room log cabin at Skin Bayounear, the military road between Fort Gibson and Fort Smith . He lived in that cabin until his death in 1843. This cabin remains the oldest surviving log cabin in present-day Oklahoma .
