Unfettered capitalism works

Fran Morris (Your Views, Dec. 21) has been watching too much “60 Minutes” if she thinks socialism is working so well in Europe. And providing for the general welfare, not socialism, is constitutionally why we have fire and police departments. Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman constantly cited Hong Kong as the best example of how well unfettered capitalism works. When governments tinker with capitalism, the citizenry always suffers.
