Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant has done some amazing things on the basketball court, but most amazing of all might be what he has not done.

The 23-year-old superstar has never scored 50 points in a game. Not in high school, not in college, not in the pros.

For this two-time defending NBA scoring champ to never have gone off for 50 is somewhat shocking.

Wilt Chamberlain scored 50 points in 118 regular-season games. He averaged 50.4 points in 1961-62.

Michael Jordan had 50-plus points 31 times.

Kobe Bryant scored 81. Elgin Baylor and David Robinson each scored 71.

George Gervin missed his first six shots in the 1978 regular-season finale and still scored 63 points in just 33 minutes to win that year's scoring title over David Thompson, who had 73 points earlier that same day. Gervin finished with a 27.22 scoring average and Thompson finished at 27.15.

So far, the highest Durant has been able to reach is 47 points twice.

Durant's best chance at 50 might have come last year on Christmas Day, when he had 40 points through three quarters at home against the Denver Nuggets. He finished with 44 points, taking just two shots in the final period of a 114-106 victory.

Durant recalls the game, but not his point total. Despite his scoring outburst, the Thunder led just 88-85 entering the fourth quarter.

"The only thing I was worried about was pushing the lead up a little bit more to get the win," Durant recalled. "I knew they would key on me and I just tried to find the guys open and take a shot when it was mine."
