Thunder starting guard Thabo Sefolosha missed Tuesday night's home game against Portland and stayed home with flu-like symptoms. His status is day-to-day.

It marked only the fourth start Sefolosha has missed in the last three seasons.

COOK RETURNS

Thunder guard Daequan Cook, who missed the previous 1½ games with flu-like symptoms, also was suffering severe headaches. In an attempt to cut down on the glare from the arena lights, Cook wore goggles against the Trail Blazers.

After getting burned for three straight baskets by Wesley Matthews, Cook discarded the goggles for 54 seconds of action early in the second period before putting them back on after a timeout.

Cook played 24 minutes and had three rebounds, but was 1 for 5 shooting form the field.

"It was just tough for us on offense," Cook said. "Sometimes when the offense isn't going well, it can affect you on defense as well."

DOUBLE-TROUBLE

With 1:06 left in the game, Portland center LaMarcus Aldridge and Thunder center Kendrick Perkins were whistled for a double-technical and separated after battling for a rebound.

"It was just two competitive guys in the heat of the moment," Aldridge said. "I don't take nothing from it. We just got into it. Both men are competitors. It's just something that happened. It's over with now."

DURANT TOPS WEST

Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant struggled against Portland, scoring 19 points on 26 shots. A few hours earlier, however, he was named Western Conference player of the week for the opening week of the season. Miami's LeBron James won the Eastern Conference award.

Durant helped the Thunder to a 5-0 start, averaged 27.4 points (second overall) and shot 54.7 percent from the field and .500 from beyond the arc. He scored 30-plus points and shot 50-plus percent from the field in each of the first four games. His 27-footer at the final buzzer beat Dallas 104-102.
