Two northbound lanes of Interstate 35 have been re-opened following a fatality traffic accident earlier Friday afternoon, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers said the left lane of the northbound on-ramps from NE 122 and Hefner Road will remain closed. The ramps are expected to re-open after the evening rush hour.

A tractor-trailer rig driver was killed Friday on Interstate 35 at NE 122 after the vehicle collided with another tractor-trailer.

Betsy Randolph, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said a rig southbound on I-35 crossed over the cable median and lost control, striking another tractor-trailer traveling north about 1:20 p.m. Friday.

Randolph said the driver of the northbound tractor-trailer was killed in the crash. Troopers haven't released the man's identity, pending notification of family members.

Lara O'Leary, Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman, said paramedics transferred the other driver in good condition to an area hospital.

Randolph said the cause of the accident is under investigation. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area.
