The body of Jessica Lynn Brown, 23, was found by police Wednesday morning after someone called 911 to report her two children playing in the street unattended. There were obvious signs of trauma to her body, Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said.

Clabes said police are investigating several leads as they work to find her killer. Her children, ages 2 and 3, are being held in protective custody.

Brown's Facebook page is not open to the public, but her profile photo appears to be an ultrasound of a baby.

“I had heard she might be pregnant, but I'm not sure,” said her grandfather, Gary McPherson. “We've heard very little. We heard that she was shot.”

Police said the medical examiner would determine the cause of Brown's death and whether she was pregnant. Brown was going through a divorce and often went by her maiden name, Jessica McPherson.

A spokesman for the Oklahoma National Guard said Brown was a specialist in the Guard and had served with the 1345th Transportation Company, based in Mustang, for 5 ½ years. She had never deployed.

Gary McPherson said his granddaughter worked for Loomis, an armored car company in Oklahoma City.

Brown was from the Yakima, Wash., area, and her parents and a sister were driving to Oklahoma on Thursday, Gary McPherson said.
