Kass Everett made OU fans sweat his college decision.

At a mid-day press conference just before Christmas, the Pierce (Calif.) Community College product donned a Texas Tech hat and announced his decision to sign with the Red Raiders.

But before faxing his letter of intent to Texas Tech, Everett had a change of heart and signed with Oklahoma.

The cornerback's decision became even bigger when Texas high school cornerback De'Vante Harris withdrew his commitment earlier this month.

Everett left his Philadelphia home Saturday to head to Norman, where he'll start classes Tuesday.

Before leaving, Everett spoke with The Oklahoman's Ryan Aber.

What was the day you signed like?

Everett: It was fun, but it was stressful at the same time. It was a lot of pressure. I feel like I wouldn't want it to happen any other way. When word got out that I was committed to Texas Tech, I got a phone call from Oklahoma expressing their need for the position and I was hearing coach (Chad) Glasgow (Texas Tech's defensive coordinator at the time) was kind of on the bubble. I took into consideration what Oklahoma was saying and made the decision that OU was the best place for me. It's been a relief to get that behind me. It was a great process and I'm glad that I came to a decision that I feel is going to be best for me.

What are your thoughts on the coaching changes that have happened at OU since you signed?

I'm open to all the changes. I understand that it's the nature of the business and coaching changes are bound to happen. It hasn't affected me negatively at all. I talked to him (new OU co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Mike Stoops) Thursday. I got a feel for him and his style of coaching and his intensity. From the first conversation, it's going to be tough love. That's his style. I can't wait to play for him.
