Former Oklahoma State guard Fred Gulley has enrolled at Arkansas and plans to play for the Razorbacks. The Fayetteville, Ark., native watched the Razorbacks practice Monday.
Gulley was granted his transfer from OSU last month. The 6-foot-2 guard is waiting to be cleared by the NCAA and Arkansas. Gulley said he is not sure whether he will be a walk-on or a scholarship player.
Gulley averaged 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game in eight games this season for Oklahoma State, starting five of those. He started 14 of the Cowboys' final 15 games as a freshman two seasons ago and started the team's first seven last season before a shoulder injury required season-ending surgery.
BARONS, OILERS EXCHANGE PLAYERS
The Oklahoma City Barons added three players and lost three players over the weekend. The American Hockey League team acquired forwards Josh Green and Ryan O'Marra and defenseman Colten Teubert from the Edmonton Oilers — but the NHL team took forwards Teemu Hartikainen, Lennart Petrell and defenseman Taylor Chorney from the Barons.
Hartikainen has 19 points in 29 games for Oklahoma City; the promotion to the Oilers is his second of the season. Chorney is returning to Edmonton for the second time this season, and Petrell returns to the National Hockey League team after a brief assignment to Oklahoma City. Green will help make up for the loss of Hartikainen. Green has 17 points in 19 games for Oklahoma City, where he started the season. O'Marra has been a key player in the Barons' penalty killing unit before a brief promotion. Teubert has played 20 games for Edmonton.
Oklahoma City (27-11-2-3) is at the Cox Center on Friday against the Houston Aeros and Saturday vs. the Texas Stars. Faceoff is 7 p.m. both days.
ALVA GRAD AN ALL-AMERICAN
Emporia State (Kan.) defensive back Derek Lohmann was named NCAA Division II All-American by the Don Hansen Football Gazette. The Alva High School graduate had eight interceptions last season, which led the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association and ranked third in Division II. Lohmann will enter his senior season this fall tied for the school's career interceptions lead (14).
