Oklahoma scene: Barons goaltender Yann Danis has perfect All-Star outing
Western Conference comes back to beat Eastern Conference in AHL All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, N.J.
The Oklahoma City Barons' Yann Danis was the only goaltender out of six to stop every shot he faced Monday night, helping the Western Conference trim the Eastern Conference 8-7 in the American Hockey League All-Star Classic in Atlantic City, N.J. A crowd of 6,113 inside Boardwalk Hall watch the Western Conference come back from a 6-2 deficit and win the game in a shootout.
Danis played the second period and made 11 saves. The Western Conference scored three goals in the second period to draw within 6-5. Ben Bishop of the Peoria Rivermen stopped all four Eastern Conference shooters in the overtime session. T.J. Hensick of Peoria and Matt Fraser of the Texas Stars scored for the Western Conference. The Barons' Philip Cornet could have clinched the win but failed to score.
Cornet and Barons teammates Ryan Keller and Alex Plante did not get a point during regulation. Barons coach Todd Nelson headed the Western Conference.
Oklahoma City returns to action 7 p.m. Thursday against San Antonio in the Cox Center.
