FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: February 10, 2012

Oklahoma kicked off the Perfect 10 Challenge on Friday night by routing Iowa State and Southeast Missouri in women's gymnastics at the Cox Convention Center.

The Perfect 10 Challenge, in its first year as part of the Bart and Nadia Sports and Health Festival, featured No. 5-ranked OU scoring a 197.200 team score and Taylor Spears winning the all-around title with a 39.400. Iowa State finished second with a 195.175. Southeast Missouri had a 189.600. Oklahoma has won three consecutive events — including an upset victory at No. 2 Arkansas — since losing a week ago to Nebraska.

“I really felt like our athletes responded well to their opportunity on the podium,” OU coach K.J. Kindler said. “It was a classy event, and I hope that more and more people will get involved, excited and come out every year to support this great cause.”

OU (12-2) next competes Friday, Feb. 17, at No. 18 Missouri in Columbia.
