Midwest City police identify woman found dead in gas-filled home

A woman found dead Monday night in a Midwest City home has been identified as Violet Hemphill, 64. Police said it appears the gas stove was deliberately turned on in an attempt to fill the house with gas. Officers are investigating the death as a homicide.

MIDWEST CITY — A home where a woman was found dead and two other people were found unconscious smelled strongly of natural gas, police said Tuesday.
