High winds, fire danger and wind advisory issued in Oklahoma Thursday

After a taking a day off, the Oklahoma wind will return with high gusts Thursday.

Due to high winds, eastern parts of Oklahoma are under a red flag warning for high fire danger Thursday, the National Weather Service reports. There are 23 counties in the warning from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, the weather service reports.

A wind advisory has been issued Thursday for western and northwestern parts of the state from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. People on boats on lakes should take precautions due to high winds.

Oklahoma City might have wind gusts over 40 mph, the weather service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 61. Windy with a west wind 11 to 14 mph becoming north, northwest between 27 and 30 mph. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 34. North, northwest wind 20 to 23 mph decreasing to between 9 and 12 mph. Winds could gust as high as 32 mph.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 56. North, northwest wind between 9 and 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 31. North, northwest wind between 5 and 8 mph becoming calm.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 64. South wind 6 to 9 mph increasing to between 21 and 24 mph. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear with a low around 39.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 61.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy with a low around 36.

Monday: Partly sunny with a high near 58.

Monday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy with a low around 44.

Tuesday: A 30 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy with a high near 56.

Tuesday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy with a low around 38.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 52.
