An international coffee chain is coming to Will Rogers World Airport.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, based in Southern California, plans to open a store inside the airport concourse this summer, in a deal with airport concessionaire Delaware North Cos. The shop will be located past the security checkpoint in a space that currently is not being used.

It's not Starbucks, but Paula Brunson, director of business development for Delaware North, said customers will not be disappointed.

“People can expect a great gourmet coffee brand to enjoy, which I think is what is lacking at the airport now,” she said.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has a menu customers might expect from a gourmet coffee shop: espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, blended drinks and pastries. But its line of specialty teas has made it very popular with customers, Brunson said.

“Tea has become the new coffee,” she said.

The company has more than 800 stores in 20 countries and more than 30 airport locations. Delaware North contracts with The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf at the airports where it handles concessions. Construction on the Will Rogers World Airport location is set to begin in March.
