— Frontier's Marrissa Goodman and Kiowa's Addy Clift and went back and forth, each scoring 25 points in Thursday's Class A quarterfinal.

But Goodman's team was just a little bit better.

Frontier (23-7) beat Kiowa 52-48 at Southern Nazarene's Sawyer Center, advancing to face the winner of Thursday's late Copan-Turner game Friday at 4:30 p.m. at State Fair Arena.

“Defensively, I don't think we were quite ready for (Clift),” Frontier coach Clay Stephens said. “In the second half, we did a lot better guarding her.”

Kiowa took a one-point lead into halftime, but scored just five third-quarter points.

Just before halftime, Kiowa (26-5) lost junior Jordan Armstrong to a knee injury. She had to be carried off the court and didn't return to action.

Kiowa coach Wade Daniel said Armstrong's injury was a hyperextended knee.
