Class A girls basketball: Kristen Chinn leads Copan to win over Turner

Kristen Chinn scored 24 points to help Copan advance to the state semifinals

— Senior Kristen Chinn scored 24 points, and No. 2 Copan advanced to the Class A semifinals with a 62-40 win over Turner on Thursday at Southern Nazarene's Sawyer Center.


Chinn's point total included six 3-pointers. She entered the state tournament averaging 13 points per game.

Copan (23-5) led 16-7 after the first quarter and took a 35-19 lead into halftime.

Senior Hayley Bryan added 12 points for Copan, which will face Frontier on Friday at 4:30 at State Fair Arena.

Turner (28-3), ranked No. 10 in Class A, was led in scoring by junior Conner Harmon's 17 points. Thursday's loss marked the school's first state tournament appearance.
