Class 5A girls basketball: Shawnee defeats Claremore, advances to face Carl Albert

— No. 1 Shawnee got all it wanted from Claremore, but won 56-36 Thursday at the Chieftain Center to advance to the Class 5A semifinals.

Junior Micaela Yu led the Wolves (27-0) with 12 points, and Mya Tramble added 11.

Shawnee, which has been Class 5A's top-ranked team all season, led 10-6 after the first quarter. Claremore (14-13) tied the game at 12 midway through the second, but the Wolves ended the first half on an 8-2 run.

Senior Miranda Taylor led Claremore with 17 points.

Shawnee advances to face No. 4 Carl Albert, which topped defending state champion Bishop McGuinness on Thursday, in a semifinal at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mabee Center in Tulsa. The two teams played on Feb. 10, with Shawnee winning 39-23.
