— Senior guard LaShanda Green scored 19 points, 11 of which came on free throws, and McAlester advanced to the Class 5A semifinals with a 49-44 win over Del City on Thursday at the Chieftain Center.

The Buffaloes (20-7) will face the winner of Thursday's late Tulsa East Central-Altus game at 6 p.m. Friday at the Mabee Center in Tulsa.

McAlester led by 13 midway through the second quarter, but Del City (18-9) slowly fought its way back into the game through the end of the first half and into the third quarter. The Eagles even took a brief 1-point lead in the fourth.

But fouls ended up being costly for Del City, which was called for six second-half fouls before McAlester was called for one.

And Green was the most frequent beneficiary. She made 8 of 9 foul-shot attempts in the second half, including 6 in the fourth quarter.

Senior Toni Smith, a Fresno State signee, led the Eagles with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
