Fairview grabbed the lead for good in a seesaw affair, using an 8-0 fourth-quarter run on its way to a 65-54 win over Oktaha in the Class 2A girls basketball tournament at Oklahoma City University on Thursday.
Emily Martens' jumper gave Fairview the lead at 51-50 with just over five minutes left in the tilt.
Rebekah Schmidt put Fairview in front 55-50 with a layup with 2:35 to go in the game. Kori Fast's transition bucket off Kaydee Stafford's feed put Fairview ahead 59-53.
Down 59-54, Oktaha turned the ball over with 41 seconds remaining. Olivia Mason's putback provided Fairview a 61-54 advantage with 34 seconds left.
Fast led sixth-ranked Fairview (27-2) with 20 points, while Sadie Mason registered 15 points. Fairview takes on Thomas at 7:30 p.m. Friday at State Fair Arena.
Third-ranked Oktaha suffered its first loss of the season to drop to 29-1. Whitney Brown led Oktaha with 19 points, while Pete Douglas added 15.
