Class 5A girls basketball: Tulsa East Central routs McAlester

Tulsa East Central advanced to its third straight state championship game but lost leading scorer Bria Pitts to a torn ACL in the process.

— No. 2 Tulsa East Central advanced to its third straight state championship game by routing No. 12 McAlester 65-37 Friday, but in the process lost its leading scorer.


Junior Bria Pitts, who averages 14 points for the Cardinals, was untouched when she fell near midcourt with a torn ACL in the second quarter. It is Pitts' second torn ACL in the last three years.

Tulsa East Central (26-3), the 5A runner-up in each of the last two seasons, will play No. 1 Shawnee on Saturday at 6 p.m.

McAlester ends its season with a record of 20-8.
