Thunder's Scott Brooks stands behind Daequan Cook as a starter

Thunder starting guard Daequan Cook hit his last two 3-point attempts Saturday night in a 122-95 victory against Charlotte.

Trouble is, he had converted just 13 of his previous 70 shots (.186) from beyond the arc.

OKC coach Scott Brooks continues to stick with Cook in the starting lineup until Thabo Sefolosha returns from the right foot soreness that has caused him to miss the last 22 games.

Sefolosha remains listed as day-to-day and potentially could return within the next 7-10 days.

Brooks said what will keep Cook in the starting lineup is how well he does everything, not just one thing.

"Daequan has to play better," Brooks said. "He's been good for us quite some time. His shot hasn't disappeared completely. I believe in his shot, I just like when he does other things and he has to get back to doing that.

"He could be one of our better team defenders. He's a good rebounder at that spot (2.9 per game as a starter). You can't just judge his game if he makes a basket or not. I don't like when anybody does that because offensively you're going to have some bad nights, but you've got to play the defensive end of the floor."

In 21 games as a starter, Cook is shooting just 29.0 percent (31 for 107) from 3-point range.

In the previous 19 games off the bench, Cook shot 39.4 percent (28 for 71) from 3-point range.

"He has to make some (shots), there's no question," Brooks said. "When you're a shooter, you need some rhythm, you need it consistently. You can't be a roller coaster shooter where you get six (shots) in one game, zero the next. I still believe in his shot. I still believe in what he does and his preparation has always been good."
