OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — President Barack Obama has left Oklahoma for Ohio after giving an address on his administration's energy policies.

The president spoke Thursday at Cushing and declared support for a pipeline that would take oil from Oklahoma storage depots to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. He left Tinker Air Force Base Thursday afternoon.

Obama traveled from Cushing to Tinker aboard a military helicopter and left the air base at 12:20 p.m.

The president highlighted energy this week in Nevada, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

His trip comes amid rising gasoline prices, and the president's political advisers say the prices pose a threat to his re-election bid because they could undermine the benefits of a payroll tax cut that was part of his jobs agenda last fall.

Ohio is a political battleground.
