OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State University women's basketball team is being honored by the Legislature for winning the Women's National Invitation Tournament following the death of two coaches in a plane crash.

Gov. Mary Fallin spoke to the team Thursday on the floor of the Oklahoma Senate, which passed a resolution honoring the team. Sporting an orange blazer, Fallin told the women they represent the “true Oklahoma spirit that makes our state great.”

OSU head coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna and two OSU boosters died in the Nov. 17 crash in Arkansas shortly after the season began. The team went on to finish 22-12 under head coach Jim Littell and capped the season with a 75-68 victory over James Madison in the WNIT championship game.
