— A comedy club is taking its act to the dogs.

Though the four-legged fans at the Humane Society of Stillwater may not get the jokes, their tails will be wagging following special benefit shows Saturday hosted by Funnies Comedy Club.

Club founders Rob Neville and Jared Cranke said they had been considering a benefit for about a year.

“An audience member asked if we'd consider doing a benefit for the Humane Society,” Cranke said.

Neville said the idea appealed to them, so they got busy working out the logistics.

The “Laugh Your Tail Off” benefit will feature comedy veteran Steve Sabo with special guest Jake Dickey.

Sabo has performed at numerous comedy festivals in the United States and Canada, for troops in Kuwait and Iraq, and has opened for comedy legend Joan Rivers. His sharp wit and energetic monologues have earned him thousands of fans across the country.

The Saturday benefit will feature shows at 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. at the Quality Inn, 2515 W 6th in Stillwater.

Humane Society of Stillwater Director Jackie Ross-Guerro said she's always looking for new ways to help the animals.

“This is a different way to get some different people aware of the Humane Society,” she said.
