Malee, the Oklahoma City Zoo's baby elephant, turned 1 on Sunday and celebrated with a cake and a rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

The 1,170-pound Asian elephant feasted on a specially made cake that was sugar-free and frosted with yogurt, Jell-O and fresh fruit.

Several hundred people in the bleachers at the Elephant Pavilion then sang “Happy Birthday” to her. When they were finished singing, Malee blew out a candle on the cake.

As she enters her second year of life, zookeepers said, Malee is progressing well for her age both mentally and physically. She knows 20 commands and will eventually master more than 60.
