Sardis Lake just missed cut for Bassmaster Magazine's best bass lakes list

“Sardis was just on the fringe of making it,” he said. “There has been some huge fish out of Sardis and it was highly recommended from our Federation guys and the fishery guys (from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation).

“We just couldn't find enough information about it to justify putting it in.”

Other Oklahoma lakes that were considered for inclusion were Fort Gibson, Okemah, Broken Bow, Sooner, Tenkiller, Dripping Springs and McGee Creek, Hall said.

Two of Oklahoma's most popular lakes, Texoma and Eufaula, never came close to making the list, he said.

The density of black bass in Texoma is just not as strong as in past years and no one nominated Eufaula, he said.

Texoma is best known for being a striper lake and Eufaula, even though it is considered a good smallmouth bass fishery, is widely known as a crappie lake.

Hall said the magazine plans to annually rank the 100 best bass fishing lakes in the country.
