— Two Edmond North players, Maddie Luitwieler and Allison Sell, shot 73s to tie for the individual lead during the opening round of the Class 6A girls state golf tournament on Wednesday.

Said Luitwieler, a freshman who made her state tournament debut, “I was a little nervous when I first started. I started off with a double (bogey), but I just kept positive and had fun with my teammates and we pulled it off.”

Sell is a junior who tied for fifth at the state tournament last year. She said she hopes to finish in the top five again and said she is happy with her opening-round score.

“I could have done a little better,” Sell said. “But I will take it.”
