Norman middle schools set musical instrument fair dates

Students about to enter the sixth grade in Norman can try out band instruments during fairs set at each of the city's four middle schools.

— The Norman Public Schools band program will hold instrument fairs at each of the middle schools for students who will be in the sixth grade for the 2012-2013 school year.

Students can try out band instruments offered in the middle school band programs to select what instrument they might want to learn. Parents will have a chance to visit with band instructors and receive additional information about the band program.

Alcott Middle School's instrument fair will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. For more information, contact band director Seth Coleman at 366-5845 or by email at sethc@norman.k12.ok.us.

Irving Middle School's fair will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. For more information, call band director Don Annesely at 366-5941 or email dannesely@norman.k12.ok.us.

Longfellow Middle School's fair will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Band director is Martha Griffith, who can be reached at 366-5948 or by email at mgriffith@norman.k12.ok.us.

Whittier Middle School's fair will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Band director is Heather Bellows, who can be reached at 366-5956 or by email at hbellows@norman.k12.ou.us.
