People seeking a food handler's card can participate in a certification course at Little Axe on Thursday.
FROM STAFF REPORTS Published: May 9, 2012

A food handler's certification course is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Little Axe Elementary School cafeteria on 168th Avenue NE, north of State Highway 9. Registration begins at 5:40 p.m.

The Little Axe Community Center and Little Axe Public Schools' child nutrition program are co-sponsoring the event. Cost is $5, and certification is valid for two years.

Anyone working in a food establishment is required by law to have a food handler's card for the county in which he or she is working. There is no age requirement, but those applying must be able to read and complete an on-site test.

Employees from the Cleveland County Health Department's environmental health staff will conduct the course. For more information, call Pamela Sharp at 292-9770.
