Oklahoma man killed by law officers after pursuit in Comanche County
Brian Wesley King Jr., 25, of Lawton, was shot and killed Monday after he fired shots at law officers and led them on a chase, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
LAWTON — A 25-year-old Lawton man who fled from police was shot and killed by law officers after a pursuit Monday morning, authorities report.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the incident, which began about 1 a.m. when the Comanche County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a man breaking into the caller's home at 611 West C in Cache.
According to the OSBI:
Cache police responded and found a man in the street who had been assaulted. They saw another man come out of the house.
That man, identified as Brian Wesley King Jr., fired several shots at officers and fled the area in a van. Comanche County deputies and Comanche Nation officers pursued the van toward Lawton on U.S. 62.
Lawton police joined in the pursuit, which ended just before 2 a.m. at the 2400 block of Cornell Avenue in Lawton.
King rammed a Comanche Nation police vehicle and a Comanche County sheriff's vehicle. Four officers shot at the suspect, killing him.
The Comanche County district attorney will determine if the shooting was justified.
