Former Oklahoma Christian golfer Rhein Gibson set a provisional world-record score by shooting a 55 at River Oaks Golf Club in Edmond last Saturday, according to ESPN.com.

Gibson, an Edmond resident who is a native of Australia, had 12 birdies and two eagles during his 16-under par round on the par-71 course on May 12, Golfweek reported.

The 26-year-old Gibson is 12th on the Golfweek National Professional Golf Tour money list.

“It was like he was throwing a perfect game, and we were just trying to stay out of his way,” Ryan Munson, who was one of two other players in Gibson's group that day, told Golfweek. Eric Fox was the third member of the group.

Gibson was an NAIA All-American at Oklahoma Christian. He won the Oklahoma Open in 2010.
