NORMAN — Oklahoma's situation at wide receiver got even more interesting Saturday, when East Mississippi Community College's LaColtan Bester signed a letter of intent with the Sooners.
Bester will join OU and be eligible to play this fall. His signing was first reported by ESPN.com.
The news comes less than two weeks after coach Bob Stoops announced the indefinite suspensions of juniors Trey Franks and Jaz Reynolds and sophomore Kameel Jackson. When OU opens its season at UTEP on Sept. 1, junior Kenny Stills will be the only receiver or tight end with an NCAA Division I reception.
Bester (6-foot-3, 205 pounds) had 76 catches for 1,042 yards and 17 touchdowns last season for East Mississippi, which won the NJCAA championship last season.
Also arriving in Norman this fall are true freshmen Durron Neal, Sterling Shepard and Derrick Woods. Junior college transfer Courtney Gardner has also signed with OU, but he still has academic work to complete before he will be cleared to join the Sooners.
