One person can have a major impact on the lives of dozens of Oklahoma County kids. That's the message the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County hopes to convey with its recently launched ONE Campaign.

The organization is asking for donations to pay for operating costs not covered by corporate donations and grants.

This is the club's first fundraising campaign since 2009 and lasts through June 15.

“We are excited about this year's campaign because there are so many great things going on at the club including art and music, tutoring, sports and leadership development,” Jane Sutter said in a news release. Sutter is president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County. “It requires general financial support to continue running those programs that have such a significant impact on our Club members.”

Group's funding source

Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County receives much of its funding from corporate donations and public and private grants, but this campaign is a call to individual donors who want to help support the club.

“The Boys & Girls Club is a fantastic organization that does a lot to help kids in the community,” said Campaign Chair and board member Jill Greene. “In order for the Club to continue providing meals, educational and leadership programs for kids, we all have to do our part to fund the organization. They need to pay staff to work with youth and money to continue operating programs. The ONE Campaign is an opportunity for people to do their part to help out.”

The campaign goal is to raise $75,000.

Those who would like to donate to this year's campaign, can go to www.bgcokc.org or call 525-9191.
