— Entering this week, Oklahoma State had three football commitments for the 2013 class.

The Cowboys have more than doubled the size of that class since, with their latest pickups being defensive tackle Vincent Taylor (San Antonio, Texas) and safety Jordan Sterns (Cibolo, Texas). first reported both commitments on Wednesday night.

Taylor, who is rated a four-star prospect by Rivals, appeared to be headed to Baylor. But when he tried to commit to the school last week, he was told the school was not ready to take him.

“Baylor had offered me, but when I was ready to commit they kept telling me to wait,” Taylor told “I was tired of waiting.”

Taylor, who stands 6-2 and weighs 267 pounds, also had offers from Texas Tech, Houston, Purdue and Vanderbilt. He recorded 153 tackles and 14 sacks as a junior at James Madison High School.

Sterns, who sports a 5-11, 185-pound frame, was a Texas Tech commit as recently as a week ago. But after a conversation with OSU linebacker Ryan Simmons, a former teammate at Steele High School, Sterns decided to switch his pledge.

“(Simmons) told me how they did things up there,” Sterns told “They're coming up; they've been a top team the last two years. I know that Coach (Mike) Gundy will be there for a while.”

Sterns is rated a three-star prospect by Rivals and also had offers from Baylor, Iowa State, Memphis, Texas State and UTSA.

Taylor and Sterns join safety Deric Robertson (Killeen, Texas) and offensive lineman Zachary Crabtree (Mansfield, Texas) as players who have committed to the Cowboys this week.
