Liberal arts education valuable in every job

Published: June 4, 2012

In response to Ted Rado (Your Views, May 30): A liberal arts education, when taught properly, is an excellent way to become employed. Learning how to read, write and think critically is what makes someone a capable employee. Seeing college as job training in a particular field can be dangerous if that field ever becomes saturated.

Liberal arts, while not guaranteeing anything, can provide the flexibility to pursue numerous careers in the event that the state budget prevents the hiring of teachers, etc.
