CELEBRATING THE DAY
Party: The dinner buffet in the ballroom of the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club featured a crawfish and shrimp boil with salads, vegetables and an olive bar, along with chicken, pizza, muffuletta sandwiches, Memorial Day themed cupcakes, tarts and cookies. A 50-foot ice cream sundae bar was on the lawn outside.
Other activities: The swimming pool officially opened at 10 a.m. Memorial Day. There were pool games for the children.
JUNIOR LEAGUE COMMUNITY PARTNERS
Event: Junior League members invited their 2012 Community Partners for dinner and a reception at Junior League headquarters. Members of the community advisory board, Junior League project managers and agency representatives were there.
Highlights: President Cristi Reiger talked about the league's commitment to train members to be effective community volunteers and leaders. Community Vice President Becky Howell discussed the literacy focus and the league's needs assessment survey. Community agency members signed their contracts for the year. Community coordinator Lauren Rieken talked about projects and the agencies.
SHOWERING THE BABY
Bundle of joy: A baby shower was held in the home of Heather and Monty Mayfield to honor Johannah Kersey and 3-month-old baby Christopher Kersey. Chris Kersey is the baby's dad.
Decor: White roses and blue carnations with blue and green tulle decorated the home. Punch, cupcakes and homemade fudge were among the menu items.
