Man beaten in Oklahoma City trying to collect winning Game 4 bet

Police said a man was severely beaten after winning a bet on the OKC Thunder's victory against the San Antonio Spurs Saturday night.

A man was severely beaten Saturday night after he tried to collect money he won in a bet on the Thunder game, police said.

Lt. Don Holland said officers were called about 10 p.m. Saturday to the 4500 block of Cherry Hill Lane to find a man severely beaten.

He said the man made a bet with another person on the Oklahoma City Thunder's Game 4 victory over the San Antonio Spurs.

When the man went to collect the money, a fight ensued between him and another person at his apartment complex. Police said he was taken to a hospital for his injuries and is in critical condition.

The altercation remains under investigation.
