OU coach Bob Stoops said incoming transfers Jalen Saunders and Cortez Johnson have applied for waivers to play this season.

Both players left their respective programs after coaching changes.

Saunders, a receiver and first-team All-WAC selection at Fresno State as a sophomore last year, had 1,065 yards and 12 touchdown receptions. Coach Pat Hill was fired by the school and replaced by Tim DeRuyter.

Johnson, a defensive back, transferred from Arizona after starting two games as a freshman in 2011. Coach Mike Stoops was fired and is now defensive coordinator at OU.

Tim Kish, who took over as Arizona's interim coach after Stoops' firing, also joined OU's staff.

“There's nothing to feel good or bad about,” Bob Stoops said when asked if he felt good about their waiver requests. “It's just a process. You go through the process and we'll see.”
