NBA Finals: Q&A with Thunder center Kendrick Perkins
Perkins said OKC turned up the intensity in the second half.
Q: What was the difference defensively in the second half?
A: “I thought we did a great job in the second half. In the first half, it was — what's the word? — horrendous. We wasn't playing our type of defense. We wasn't stunting, we wasn't helping. The second half, we turned it up to another level, and our defense translated to our offense. We're a defensive team first, and then we get out on the break and we got easy looks. I thought we all did a great job of doing our part — getting guys open, guys making shots, KD and Russ making plays for everybody, and we end up getting a win.”

“We had to get the butterflies out a little bit. We got off to a slow start, but we just stuck with it and grinded through.”
Do you just need to settle in to the flow of the game?
“Being at home helps, too. On the road, we can't get down like that, but at home it helps with the fans we got and the support that we got, just coming out and knowing we can take it to another level. The good thing about this team is we hate losing. We just had to find a way, a will and just dig deep.”
What is the mindset of the team going into Game 2?
“Game 1 is out of the way. We've got to get locked in for Game 2. We know they're going to come even harder. You've got to think LeBron and D. Wade are going to come out more aggressive. We've got to throw this one out the window and move forward.”
