OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A prosthetics business owner who pleaded guilty to health care fraud has been ordered to pay more than $4.6 million in restitution.

A federal judge in May sentenced Lance Faulkner to 51 months in prison. Prosecutors said Wednesday the hearing regarding restitution was continued until Tuesday.

Faulkner owned Heartland Orthotic Prosthetic Lab in Shawnee.

Prosecutors allege he billed Medicare and Medicaid for beneficiaries who didn't have prescriptions for the prosthetics from a license physician or other qualified health care provider. Authorities say he submitted physicians' names and identification numbers even though many of the doctors had never treated the patients or prescribed the prosthetic limbs.

Faulkner pleaded guilty to committing health care fraud on Sept. 9.

The Federal Public Defender's office, which represented Faulkner, said it doesn't comment on cases.
