Super 30: Altus' Diquon Woodhouse is healthy again

After missing his junior season with a torn ACL, Woodhouse hopes to have a strong senior season and pick up more scholarship offers.

— Diquon Woodhouse isn't wearing a knee brace anymore, but he is bracing for a senior season he hopes will propel him to several big-time college football offers.

The Altus standout, who is No. 26 on The Oklahoman's Super 30 list of the top football recruits in the Class of 2013, missed his entire junior season with an ACL tear, but that didn't stop Navy and South Dakota from offering him football scholarships.

“My knee is 100 percent,” he said. “I don't feel any lingering. It feels better now than it did last year, when I was babying it and wearing a brace.”

Woodhouse's weight is up to 191 pounds, and he said he wants to play this fall at 195. He also said his 40-yard dash time is up to 4.36.

The senior-to-be has been to camps at OU, OSU and Tulsa this summer, and plans to attend New Mexico's on July 21.

He added that several other schools, including Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, San Diego State, Texas Tech and Virginia Tech have expressed interest.

“I've talked to a lot of other schools,” he said. “The thing about the big school is they want to see senior film.

“When I go to the camps, they see me outside of pads and really like me. They want to see me under fire a little bit with pads.”

Altus was 3-7 last season with Woodhouse watching from the sideline.

He is being recruited as an athlete, but plays running back and defensive back for Altus. He said he prefers running back, but isn't sure what Altus coach Chad Stone has planned for him in the fall.

“I'm really open to a lot of stuff,” Woodhouse said. “I'm just trying to get my name back out there.”
