Update: I-35 re-opened near Mulhall as firefighters battle blaze

An Oklahoma wildfire near the border of Payne and Logan counties has burned about 600 acres and closed Interstate 35.

6:30 p.m.: Northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 from State Highway 51 to 1 mile south have been re-opened.

5:10 p.m.: Northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 35 are closed from State Highway 51 to 1 mile south because of the grass fire.

3:50 p.m.: — Firefighters from Logan and Payne counties are fighting a wildfire near Mulhall, authorities said Wednesday.

The fire is about a mile northwest of Interstate 35 and Mulhall Road, a Guthrie fire dispatcher said. The location is on the border of the two counties.

Guthrie's fire department is leading the effort, but firefighters from Stillwater and several other fire departments have sent people and equipment to help.

The fire already has burned about 600 acres, but no structures have been burned, officials said.
