In brief

Job fair set to go online

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission has scheduled an online job-finding event for veterans for Aug. 12-20 at www.vjf.cardcaa.org. The Veteran's Virtual Job Fair showcases jobs from entry-level to top management and will be accessible 24-hours-a-day to veterans. Through the commission's Workforce Oklahoma, veterans can access job search assistance, resume assistance, labor market information, career counseling, job referral, and referral to other supportive and training resources.

Rail study seeks ideas

A task force to study passenger rail between Oklahoma City and Tulsa has decided to invite private rail carriers to present project ideas during an upcoming meeting. Requests for information are expected to be sent out next week. Any company with expertise in developing railroad projects can participate. The Eastern Flyer Passenger Rail Development Task Force, which was formed by the Oklahoma Legislature, is asking for presentations on the potential costs to refurbish, construct and operate about 102 miles of track between the two cities. Participation will be for information only and not give an advantage in bidding on any future potential contracts.
