Receiver Kameel Jackson won't be returning to the OU football team.

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops said Saturday that Jackson's time as a Sooner was over.

Jackson took to Twitter in early May to announce he intended to transfer to Texas A&M.

Jackson was suspended from OU a few days before — though it wasn't made public until later — but remained on scholarship with the hopes of being reinstated.

“Kameel won't be back,” Stoops said Saturday. “He won't be reinstated.

“You might tweet that too.”

A few days earlier, Stoops had said he would re-evaluate Jackson after he finished his summer academic work.

On Saturday, Jackson didn't address the situation in detail on Twitter, but responded to a question about whether or not he was leaving OU with, “I'm not.”

Stoops addressed Jackson's Twitter announcement in June.

“He shouldn't be on Twitter when he's making a foolish statement,” Stoops said then. “He's making a statement that he shouldn't be making when he's already been suspended for eight or 10 games. He didn't detail that on his Twitter.”

Jackson was suspended along with Trey Franks, Quentin Hayes and Jaz Reynolds, though he was the only one kept on scholarship during the suspension.

As a true freshman last year, Jackson caught 12 passes for 165 yards and started the Insight Bowl after Reynolds and Ryan Broyles were injured.

Franks, Hayes and Reynolds were reinstated last week, though Stoops said each would miss a “considerable” amount of games.
