Oklahoma City-County Health Department needs inspectors

Health Department looking for workers to do inspections of restaurants.

There are six tiers of employment at the Oklahoma County-City Health Department, and a valid Oklahoma driver's license is required.

Levels 1 and 2

The first and second tiers last one year each. Employees work under the direction of an supervisor. Employees are responsible for performing beginning-level professional work with the department's Consumer Protection Department.

• Education requirements: Bachelor's or Master's degree in: public health; environmental health; environmental, physical, natural or biological science; or equivalent; with at least 30 semester hours in physical, natural and biological science required.

• Position requirements: You must become an Oklahoma Registered Professional Sanitarian within two years and six months of hire as a condition of continued employment.

• Starting pay: $32,100 yearly.

Levels 3-5

Level 3 is achieved when an employee is tested and receives a license from the state. Employees can progress up to a Level 5. Employees work under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Employees are responsible for performing professional Public Health Specialist duties in the Consumer Protection Department.

• Education requirements: Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental health; environmental, physical, natural or biological science or equivalent with at least 30 semester hours in physical, natural and biological science required.
