Three questions on Class 3A: Is this the state's most wide-open class?
Last year's Class 3A champion and runner-up moved to 4A this fall, and perennial powers Heritage Hall and Bethany are facing rebuilding years.
Is 3A the most wide-open class in the state?
Kingfisher, Tuttle and Berryhill would argue it, but 3A is as much of a tossup as any class. The champion and runner-up each moved to 4A this fall. Perennial power Heritage Hall is facing a rebuilding year with several young players. Same at Bethany. Yet a team like Jones, coming off a run to the 2A finals with several players back and a potential star QB, is fighting for a top 10 spot. There are favorites at the top, but there are multiple teams outside the top five who could join them in that role.

Who is the best player in the class?
By the end of the season, we might be talking about Kingfisher running back Landon Nault, and he's close to that level already. Tuttle WR/LB Dawson Cooper and a few others are in the same situation. But Sequoyah-Tahlequah quarterback Brayden Scott is a blossoming star. The Memphis commit is one of the state's best quarterbacks at any level, and he'll keep the Indians in the mix as title contenders.
How far will Heritage Hall fall after losing so many talented players from last season?
It has the look of a down year for the Chargers, but a “down year” for them is a little different. The No. 12 ranking sounds right at this point, but with so many unknowns in the formula, thanks to a high number of talented but inexperienced players stepping into action, the season could go either direction.
